The player's objective is to collect all eight pages located in various areas of the forest whilst avoiding the Slender Man. Slender: The Eight Pages is set in the middle of a dense forest during the middle of the night, and is played from a first person perspective. He is known for the ominous abduction of countless children in dark mysterious settings, such as deep forests and abandoned buildings. The game is based on the quasi-folklore meme figure known as the Slender Man, who is depicted as a tall man with a white face with no facial features, who wears an all black suit with a red tie around the neck area. Slender man has another name in the video series Marble Hornets. There are also other sources of light the player can use consisting of flashlight(default), Glow stick(gives a green circle around the player), Lantern(no visible difference from the flashlight). Daytime is just a normal mode with light instead of playing at night. Static at the top and bottom of the screen. Marble hornets gives a broken video camera effect. Normal is the default game mode that the player plays through. These modes consist of normal, marble hornets, daytime. There are other game modes that must be unlocked. Slender man would pop up in the regain of the character and a loud static would play and if the character got to close static would cover the screen. The feeling the game gives was that of uneasy.
The fear of the game is far from the visual effects for the graphics were less then average. The teens thought that Slender man was real unable to dissever real and false. He has even(sadly) been the reason for attempted murder by two preteens. Many other games where created after Slender:The Eight Pages using the same antagonist. Stories attacked everywhere and he became the icon for creepypastas(short stories that are meant to give a distressed or horrified feel).
